Terms and Conditions of the LifeMiles Program

The LifeMiles loyalty program (the “Program”) is a coalition loyalty program owned and operated by LifeMiles LTD, a limited liability company organized and existing under the laws of Bermuda (“LIFEMILES LTD”).

Through the Program, the Avianca Holdings S.A airlines (“the Airlines) acknowledge and encourage the loyalty of their travelers.

These Terms and Conditions shall modify all the terms and conditions of the AviancaPlus and DISTANCIA programs and of any previous version of the LifeMiles program.

Except for the obligations expressly indicated in these Terms and Conditions, none of the Airlines and the other companies with which LifeMiles LTD has entered into agreements to participate in the Program, such as other airlines, banks, hotels, auto rental companies, retailers of goods and services, among others, have any responsibility for the operation of the Program.

Every member of the Program shall be subject to the Program´s Privacy Policy and following Terms and Conditions:


General Terms and Conditions

The present Terms and Conditions of the LifeMiles program may be modified, amended and/or substituted anytime, with or without prior notice, as well as the other rules, special offers and benefits of the LifeMiles program. This means that the accrual of mileage credit does not entitle members to any vested rights with respect to such mileage credits, awards or program benefits. In accumulating mileage or awards, members may not rely upon the continued availability of any award or award level, and members may not be able to obtain all offered awards for all destinations or on all flights. Any award, including award tickets may be subject to increased or reduced mileage requirements or new restrictions at any time. Members may any time, among other things, (i) end the LifeMiles loyalty program; (ii) withdraw, limit, modify, or cancel any award, including award tickets; (iii) change program benefits, mileage levels, participant affiliations, conditions of participation, rules and methodology for earning, and redeeming mileage credit, rules for the use of travel awards and effectiveness of mileage; (iv) add travel embargo dates, limit the number of seats available for award tickets (including, but not limited to, allocating no seats on certain flights) or otherwise restrict the continued availability of travel awards or special offers, and (v) modify the price in Miles for the award tickets and its methodology to compute the mileage required based on offer and demand, availability, among others, and modify the methodology to compute the amount of mileage required to acquire an award ticket. These changes may be made anytime although it may affect your ability to use the mileage credit or awards that you have already accumulated. Avianca, TACA, LifeMiles LTD and the other Airlines reserve the right to end the LifeMiles program with six (6) months previous notice, immediately or within a shorter term in case a law, judgment or relation requires it. The termination of the program and/or changes, amendments or modifications to the terms and conditions of the program shall not give the right to any kind of claim or indemnity by any member or third parties.

LifeMiles LTD and the Airlines shall not assume joint liability to the members and each entity is responsible for its respective duties.

An updated version of the terms and conditions of the program shall always be available at www.LifeMiles.com. It is the duty and responsibility of all the members of the program to get acquainted, comply and be aware of every rule and policy of the LifeMiles program, and to learn, comply with and keep updated of additional information for the members, news bulletins and their account status through www.LifeMiles.com or any attention center of Avianca and/or TACA and/or any other Airline to understand the rights, responsibilities and its status as member under the LifeMiles program.

Any activity in the member’s LifeMiles account extends the expiration date of the mileage credit of that account for a term of twenty four (24) months from the date of the latest qualifying activity. Qualifying activity is defined as any mileage accrual or redemption transaction, affecting the member’s mileage credit. Twenty four (24) months after the latest activity all miles will expire and the mileage credit of the account will be zero (0) miles. LifeMiles LTD and/or the Airlines may, but shall not be responsible for establishing special conditions to reactivate expired Miles and may also establish a charge for their reactivation.

The accrued mileage does not have any monetary value and in no case mileage may be purchased, sold, bartered or transferred, except in case such transaction is permitted and/or authorized by the LifeMiles program under the terms and conditions of the program and/or of any other offer. Nor the purchase, sale, barter or transference of award titles, including without limitations, award tickets of the LifeMiles program for personal benefits or of third parties is permitted. The mileage, benefits or award tickets, including without limitations, award tickets shall not be valid or honored and may be cancelled by LifeMiles LTD and/or by the Airlines anytime even if the travel has begun if transferred for cash or other consideration or payment. Members incurring in such practice (and any other party using any benefit or award ticket obtained in this manner) shall be responsible for the full payment of the related tariff, for damages and/or prejudice to LifeMiles LTD, Avianca, TACA and the other Airlines, and for the legal and operative costs arising from such action.
Members are not permitted to directly or indirectly receive or provide any object, value, interest or service in exchange for the transference of Miles. If any mile is resold, distributed, transferred for any reason (in payment or otherwise), or is used for illegal purposes established under the sole and absolute discretion of LifeMiles LTD and/or the Airlines, or if a transference of miles is made under the abuse or fraudulent use of a credit card or any other legal means, LifeMiles LTD and/or the Airlines may at their option, cancel, annul, refuse to validate and/or reverse such mileage transferred, freeze and/or cancel the account of the member on the LifeMiles program, and/or exercise every available right or remedy. The member acknowledges that LifeMiles LTD and/or the Airlines may debit from its account or from the account which transferred the miles in connection with the above. The member accepts to cooperate with every request from LifeMiles LTD and/or the Airlines related to any investigation or procedure against any individual participating, or is suspected of participating in the abuse or fraud related to the transference of miles under these terms.

Under the applicable governmental rules of each country, the sale of mileage and issuance of award tickets acquired through mileage in any country where LifeMiles operate may be subject to local taxes and other charges required by the country where the transaction is carried. All the taxes, fees and/or other charges that shall be paid are the sole responsibility of the member carrying such transaction. LifeMiles LTD and/or the Airlines reserve the right to establish a different price for the sale of mileage in each country and/or sales channel and to charge for the related service, which may also be different in each country and/or sales channel.

LifeMiles program has different levels of membership for its members, according to the requirements provided by each Airline in the program for each level. Each Airline may also have its own membership levels, in which case a LifeMiles member may have different levels of membership in the different Airlines with special benefits related only to such Airline. The present terms and conditions, and the benefits of the LifeMiles program (including mileage) are not negotiable or bartered by cash or any other benefit or consideration not authorized by the LifeMiles program. Also, money paid for Miles is not reimbursable.

Except for the provisions in these terms and conditions, these shall not be applied to other programs of Avianca, TACA, and/or any of their affiliated or subsidiaries, or of any other airline, entity or company.

The mileage accrual and the mileage summary in the account of a member is a personal non transferable right, except in the manner authorized by these terms and conditions; therefore they may not be inherited or comingled with the mileage summary of another member of the program. The available summary of mileage in the account of a member notwithstanding the acquisition manner, and the benefits, including without limitations, award tickets, are not part of the property of the member. The mileage summary in the account of a member or the benefits or award tickets are not transferable: (i) upon death of the member, (ii) due to family relationships, (iii) by operation of law; or (iv) for any other reason.
The purchase of mileage of the program and the transference of mileage between accounts shall be authorized only at the time and manner provided by LifeMiles, detailing the terms and conditions of such transactions, to which the members must enroll, with the possibility of establishing, among others, restrictions to the amounts of mileage to be purchased and/or transferred, as well as establishing an administrative charge, which shall be paid by the member upon carrying such transactions. All the fees and taxes arising from these types of transactions under applicable laws shall be the sole responsibility of the member.

Natural individuals older than two (2) years are eligible to get a membership to the LifeMiles program. Corporations and other types of entities are not eligible to become members of the program and may not accrue mileage, except in the cases provided by these terms and conditions.

Currently, the membership of the program is free and without any cost for the member; however, LifeMiles LTD and the Airlines reserve the right to establish anytime at their sole discretion a charge for the program membership.

The program membership is personal and non-transferable and only one individual may be associated for each account. The interested individual may enroll in LifeMiles at the website www.LifeMiles.com, or at any other point of service of Avianca, TACA or the other Airlines, and must provide its full name, Electronic mail address and/or domicile address and any other information requested by LifeMiles for enrolment. Upon being accepted by the program, the individual becomes a member of the LifeMiles program and accepts its terms and conditions and its privacy policy. LifeMiles program reserves the right to refuse the enrolment of any individual not complying with the requirements of the program or whose previous account had been cancelled by LifeMiles LTD and/or the Airlines. The members of the program may not have more than one account in LifeMiles. In case more than one account is assigned to the same individual, the duplicated account shall be cancelled by LifeMiles, and only the summary of mileage shall be transferred to such account, excluding any summary product of any bonus for enrolling in the program.

Every member requesting a LifeMiles program membership card shall be issued one containing its full name and account number, which shall be delivered exclusively to the domicile contained in the information provided by the member, subject to any administrative charge or of any other nature established by the program and which had been communicated to the member upon requesting the card. All the members may request their membership card at some attention centers of Avianca and/or TACA and/or the other Airlines. The membership card is the property of Avianca and/or TACA and/or LifeMiles LTD and shall be delivered upon request.

Upon enrolling the LifeMiles program, the new member shall receive a unique account number, which shall be non-transferable and shall be referred as “LifeMiles number”, “frequent flyer number”, “identification number” or “account number”; such identification number shall be valid only in relation to the LifeMiles program transactions. Such identification number as member shall not be valid for other identification purposes not related to the LifeMiles program. Upon completing the enrolment to the LifeMiles program the new member shall receive a welcome to the LifeMiles program by electronic e-mail. Subsequently the member may have access to the LifeMiles.com Website, where the member may create its password to access its account and its PIN number, and also access to a variety of self-service tools and the ability to complete certain transactions. The telephone PIN shall be used to identify as the owner of the account in the transactions carried through the Call Center. In case of not having a password or telephone PIN, the transactions may be carried personally at any service center of Avianca and/or TACA. The member is the sole responsible for the use of its PIN and/or password and for keeping its confidentiality; therefore it must not be disclosed to third parties. Otherwise, the member shall be the sole responsible for any and every action carried by such third party with the PIN and/or password, including without limitations, any transaction within the member account, any violation of the terms and conditions of the LifeMiles program and any additional disclosure of such PIN and/or password. LifeMiles LTD, Avianca and TACA or the other Airlines shall not be responsible for any loss or action arising from the access or unauthorized use of the PIN and/or password of the member.

Safety regulations in the different countries may require LifeMiles LTD and the Airlines that certain governmental office may have access to the information provided by the members. LifeMiles LTD and/or the Airlines may disclose personal information of the LifeMiles members, with or without the members consent, and under the applicable law, to governmental authorities or third parties under legal requirements or from any relevant authority, limiting to strictly disclose such information bound by law.

LifeMiles LTD and/or the Airlines reserve the right to audit any and all accounts at any time and without notice to the member to ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of LifeMiles and applicable conditions of carriage and/or tariffs. During the audit process it may be necessary to block the account until adjusting which miles were legally obtained. LifeMiles LTD and the Airlines reserve the right to withdraw all the miles wrongfully accrued (whether by mistake, discrepancy, in violation of the Terms and Conditions and/or in case of fraud, among others) and in such cases, also reserve the right to cancel tickets, upgrading, redeemed awards and/or proceeding from such mileage.

Membership of the LifeMiles program is a privilege that may be revoked by LifeMiles LTD and/or the Airlines anytime at their sole discretion and without any duty to compensate the member and without acknowledging the mileage accrual summary on the termination date or suspension of the account of the member, in cases including, without limitations, fraud, default and/or any violation of the terms and conditions of the LifeMiles program, by willful misconduct of the member, or even upon suspecting irregular behavior, fraud or willful misconduct of the member to use or obtaining the benefits of the Program, or when under the judgment of LifeMiles LTD and/or the Airlines, the member causes damaging actions to any asset of LifeMiles LTD and/or the Airlines, its affiliated or subsidiary companies, or any action of verbal abuse and/or physical to any servant, director and/or agent of such entities, whether a liability of the member is determined, civil, penal or otherwise, or any default of any applicable rule, including without limitations, carriage conditions, tariffs or others. Cancellation of such account with result in the loss of all the privileges and/or benefits, award tickets and mileage summary in the member’s account, and the cancellation of tickets issued by redeeming miles and which have not been used, as well as the future participation in the program.

Also, LifeMiles LTD and the Airlines reserve the right to take the legal actions deemed convenient to recover damages and prejudices caused, including legal fees.

Members whose account is terminated under the terms and conditions of the program shall be disqualified to open a new account. In case LifeMiles LTD and the Airlines at their sole discretion decide not to terminate the account of a member and permit to keep its membership in the program, they may take other actions such as the reduction of mileage summary in the member’s account and/or reduce its level in the LifeMiles Program, without prejudice to the legal remedies available under applicable law.

The goods and services rendered by third parties to the members and which permit accrual of mileage or have been obtained by redeeming miles are the exclusive responsibility of such third party. LifeMiles program does not guarantee the satisfaction of the products or services a member may acquire to receive mileage or obtained by redeeming miles. The LifeMiles program waives any kind of responsibility for the service rendered by any of the airlines, businesses and/or companies affiliated or participants. Every claim related to such services must be addressed only to the above-referred entities.

A partially used ticket is not refundable.

The conditions to get upgrading to a higher class of service in the flights are provided in https://www.lifemiles.com/eng/use/trb/trbupgbus.aspx. Additionally, courtesy upgrading does not apply when the ticket is issued in codeshare flights or discount tickets, employees’ tickets, agency discounts, free tickets or tickets redeemed with miles.

LifeMiles LTD may deliver electronic summaries of account to those members who provided a valid e-mail address. LifeMiles LTD does not guarantee the account summaries or similar communications are always free of errors. LifeMiles LTD reserves the right to correct any account summary or similar communication wrongfully delivered by delivering the correct account summary.

The member is responsible to keep updated of the present Terms and Conditions. The member is also responsible for the information provided to LifeMiles LTD and/or the Airlines, always keeping its information updated, specially its contact e-mail, address and telephone.

The redemption of Miles by the member and the accrual, consultation and/or use of any other benefit in the program and/or any other activity performed by the Member within the Program is evidence of the unequivocal express acceptance of the Terms and Conditions of the LifeMiles Program and of the Privacy Policy by the Member. Also, the acceptance of a credit and/or debit card by an individual with which Miles are directly accrued based on the consumption is the absolute unequivocal express acceptance of the Terms and Conditions of the LifeMiles Program and the Privacy Policy by the Members.

Every member is responsible of the truthfulness and accuracy of all the personal information provided to LifeMiles and it is also responsible for keeping such information complete and updated; therefore the member assumes all the responsibility and consequence arising from any incomplete, partial or wrongful information provided to LifeMiles.


Mileage Accrual

Mileage may be accrued from the beginning of the membership upon the member receiving its account number. The amount of mileage credited shall depend on the accrual conditions of the program in effect at the time of using the services.

To ensure to receive the respective credit of mileage of any applicable transaction, the member must submit its number of LifeMiles account upon making flight reservations in the Airlines affiliated to the program or when making use of any of the services or acquiring any of the products of the affiliated or participant businesses. The member must retain all the applicable flight documentation until the mileage credit is showed in the member’s account. In case of the transactions with the affiliated and/or participant businesses, the member must retain the original voucher, invoice or any other evidencing document requested by such entity. The mileage the member wishes to accrue through the affiliated or participant businesses must be directly requested to each entity, which may be credited under the policies and procedures established by such entities.

Members may track their mileage credit in their accounts through the summary accounts delivered monthly to their e-mail address or at the website www.LifeMiles.com. It is the members sole responsibility to ensure the mileage earned is correctly credited in its account, for which the submittal of satisfactory support documentation may be requested, which may include boarding passes, vouchers, invoices and others.

Any claim related to the summary account of the LifeMiles member must be submitted within six (6) month after the transaction. No claim shall be received after such period. The request of credit of mileage not registered in the member’s account may be made through the Call Center or at Attention Centers of the Airlines. Not credited mileage related to transactions carried in affiliated or participant businesses must be requested to the respective entity, which shall be responsible to deliver the respective request to LifeMiles.

The mileage credit for previous transactions complying with the established requirements may be requested up to twelve (12) months after the transaction date under the terms and conditions herein provided, by submitting the support documentation required. LifeMiles LTD and/or the Airlines reserve the right to verify all the documentation produced for extemporaneous credit. Retroactive credit for flights in affiliated or participant Airlines is not permitted, or for any kind of transaction with the affiliated or participant businesses or entities carried before the member enrolled the program.

Mileage accrued in the member’s account are exclusively those awarded for flights carried with the Airlines and other airlines affiliated to the program which had been completely paid and under the terms and conditions for accrual established by each airline. Mileage may also accrue for the products and/or services acquired in the affiliated and/or participant businesses, companies and/or entities participating in the program under the provisions of the respective commercial agreements, as well as bonuses arising from promotions agreed between the program and its affiliated businesses, or mileage resulting from any transaction authorized under the terms and conditions of LifeMiles; therefore, in case of finding accrued mileage not belonging to the owner of the account, LifeMiles reserves the right to deduce them from the account and/or charge them to the owner of the account under the established policies and any other remedy contained in the terms and conditions, in case of being able to establish or suspect that the member is directly liable for such fraud.

Mileage shall be credited only to the account of the member flying or acquiring the services and/or products from other affiliated or participant businesses. Mileage may accrue when the member had flown with an air ticket on routes operated by the Airlines and the other air members of the LifeMiles Program; accrued mileage shall be reflected in the member’s account upon ending the trip with any of such Airlines or until the service and/or product had been received from the affiliated and/or participant business, company or entity under the terms and conditions of such entities. Mileage shall not accrue for cancelled flights or when the passenger is allotted to another airline, unless agreed by the participant Airlines at their sole discretion.

The flights of the Airlines and the tariffs permitting to accrue mileage shall be established by each one of them, and may be modified without previous notice with immediate effect. The flights, tariffs and classes, among others, of other airlines affiliated to the program which accrue mileage shall be determined by the agreements existing with such Airlines and by the conditions defined by each one of them. Upon using the services of affiliated airlines, the member must verify the conditions in effect of each of them, since these airlines may modify their conditions anytime without previous notice. The affiliated airlines are the only responsible for mileage credit arising from their services.

For each complete flight credit to a valid tariff and in an applicable segment with the right to mileage credit, the member shall have the right to receive a certain amount of mileage in its account. The amount of mileage acquired by any means by a member of LifeMiles does not necessarily is equivalent to the geographic distance between the departure and destination point. LifeMiles LTD and the Airlines reserve the right to establish an accrual or accreditation of miles of the Program from trips in the Airlines and not necessarily equivalent to the geographic distance between the departure and arrival point. The amount of miles to be accrued shall depend on the agreements existing with the Airlines participating in the program, and on the accrual terms and conditions of such airlines. To calculate such amount the airlines may take in consideration, among others, the following factors: (i) the distance travelled or the minimum amount of mileage fixed under its policies for the distance existing between departure and arrival point indicated in the ticket; in case of direct flights, with or without stops, the mileage credit in the member’s account may be those related to the total segment; in case of flights with connections and change of equipment or flight number, mileage may be calculated based on the different partial segments flown; (ii) the type of tariff and/or class of service effectively used in international and domestic flights, the accrual may be based on the actual mileage flown with a minimum established by each airline under their own policies; and (iii) any other factor used by the airlines to establish the amount of mileage to credit, at their sole discretion.

The members of the program who are also members of other similar programs of other Airlines may accrue mileage only in one of the programs for the same flight at their option. After mileage had been credited in a specific account or program, its choice may not be changed or revert the assignation of mileage credit. The member shall not accrue mileage when flights of the airlines affiliated to LifeMiles are annulled or cancelled for reasons beyond their control (including annulments for internal strikes or safety reasons).

Mileage may accrue once per each flight independently of the number of seats purchased by the member.

Except when LifeMiles so provides, mileage shall NOT accrue in the member’s account in the following cases:

  • Air tickets used in Airlines not affiliated or participants in LifeMiles
  • Not used air tickets
  • Reimbursed air tickets
  • Lost air tickets
  • Expired air tickets
  • Air tickets issued with commercial members under SOCCOM or SOCOM tariffs
  • Air tickets issued with student’s tariffs
  • Air tickets purchased with unpublished tariffs
  • Award tickets or air tickets from other special promotions
  • Free air tickets, charter’s, "tour conductor", tickets for airline employees or others travelling with any kind of pass or discount.

Tickets obtained as a result of LifeMiles awards shall not accrue mileage, except the products specifying otherwise.

LifeMiles LTD and the Airlines are the only authority with the ability to establish when mileage credit shall be credited in the account of the LifeMiles member and reserve the right to refuse or revoke such mileage credit at their sole discretion when a mistake had been made or is suspected upon mileage crediting.

In case the Airlines, LifeMiles LTD or any entity affiliated and/or participating in the LifeMiles unduly refuses mileage credit, award tickets or any other benefit to any member, the exclusive remedy of the member shall be the mileage credit of those refused, the award ticket or benefit if available or possible, or any other alternative comparable benefit as determined by the Airlines and LifeMiles LTD, who shall not have any additional responsibility. In no case shall the Airlines or LifeMiles LTD or any entity affiliated and/or participant in the program be responsible before any member or any individual representing a member for direct or indirect or emerging or consequential damages, for the loss of income or profits arising or in connection with acts or omissions of LifeMiles LTD and/or the Airlines or any of the entities affiliated or participating in LifeMiles.

The computation units of certain loyalty programs of companies, businesses or affiliated or participant entities may be converted into mileage upon being transferred to the LifeMiles account of the member, under the equivalency tables in effect at that time. The member may consult the information of the programs of companies, businesses or entities affiliated or participants, the conditions of conversion to mileage and transference through www.LifeMiles.com; mileage credited in the member’s account shall adjust to the general rules of validity defined in the present terms and conditions.

For mileage accrual, tickets must be issued with the correct member´s name. It is the member´s responsibility to validate the name in the ticket and reservation; otherwise, the correction must be requested before the trip, otherwise the miles may not be accrued


Redeeming Mileage

Mileage may be used for the purpose expressly provided in these terms and conditions or in the communications means of LifeMiles. LifeMiles members may use the mileage available in its account to redeem products or services of the Airlines or of any of the businesses or entities affiliated or participants in the program, according to the list in effect at the time of redeeming. Among those entities there may be airlines, hotels, rent-a-car, and products of in-line catalogue, activities, tours, amusement parks, drugstores, dry cleaners, beauty shops, restaurants and others. The process to redeem these types of benefits, awards and award tickets shall be available at the website www.LifeMiles.com.

LifeMiles LTD and/or the Airlines shall be the only relevant authority to establish the amount of mileage necessary to redeem an award, benefit of award ticket. The amount of mileage necessary to redeem an award ticket may be found upon quoting the redemption of an award ticket at the website www.LifeMiles.com. Such amount shall depend on the origin and destination of the flight, on the class wishing to redeem and its characteristics, the season, demand, among others.

In award tickets obtained by redeeming Miles the change of name is not permitted.

All the conditions to redeem miles by upgrading a class of service in the flights may be obtained athttps://www.lifemiles.com/eng/use/trb/trbupgbus.aspx.

LifeMiles LTD or the Airlines shall not be responsible in any case for those awards redeemed for products and/or services granted by businesses or entities affiliated or participating in the LifeMiles program, and such entities shall be the sole responsible to guarantee the products or services offered. The member is responsible to get to know the restrictions, terms and conditions of use of the LifeMiles awards. Nor the Airlines or LifeMiles LTD have the direct control over such entities, therefore they may not be held responsible for the continuance and/or availability of the services and/or products offered by the businesses and entities affiliated and/or participating in the program. The Airlines or LifeMiles LTD shall not be responsible for the withdrawal of any of the businesses or entities affiliated or participants, cancellation of benefits or awards, discontinuation of the services, change in mileage levels required or for their rules, restrictions and policies. The restrictions to the awards and benefits may be modified anytime by the Airlines, LifeMiles LTD or the entities affiliated or participating in the program.

The availability of the awards, benefits and/or award tickets may depend on the dates, season and destination, among others. Benefits and specific awards and certain destinations may not be available at all times or may be subject to limited availability.

Subject to these terms and conditions, including rules related to the prohibition to purchase and sell mileage, benefits and award tickets, the award tickets may be redeemed in favor of the individual indicated by the member. Upon issuing the award ticket, it may not be transferred in any manner. Passengers must carry an identification document throughout the journey and must produce it when requested by the airline agent.

Redeemed air tickets are valid for one year after purchase.

Award tickets shall not apply to flights in the Airlines and other affiliated airlines operated under code-share agreements with other airlines. Also, flights operated by airlines not participating in the program under any kind of agreement with affiliated airlines shall not apply to award tickets, unless LifeMiles so provides.

Award tickets for international flights shall be subject to every applicable governmental approval. Also, the use of award tickets shall be restricted by all the general carriage conditions of the airline operating the flight, tariffs and charges, ticket conditions and every policy, together with every applicable International Treaty, and by all the terms and conditions of the LifeMiles program.

The member of LifeMiles shall be the sole responsible for the payment of any tariff, charge and of every amount established as a tax, fee or right that must be paid to any public or private individual as a result of the redemption of award tickets or any other award or benefit arising from the LifeMiles program. The detail and amounts of tariffs, charges and taxes applicable to an award ticket or any other benefit of the LifeMiles program may be checked upon quoting or redeeming through the website www.LifeMiles.com.

The member of LifeMiles shall be sole responsible for obtaining every immigration requirement to travel with an award ticket, including without limitations, visas and vaccination.

Mileage redemption and/or issuance of award tickets may have an administrative charge established by LifeMiles, which shall be paid by the member upon redeeming. Such administrative charge may vary according to the type of award, origin/destination selected by the member, among others.

The miles´ redemption must always be made by the owner of the LifeMiles account, submitting a photo ID and providing the LifeMiles number. Under no circumstances is it permitted the LifeMiles redemption of a third party account. If redemption is made through the Call Center, the owner of the account must validate its identity with its PIN. If the redemption is made through the www.LifeMiles.com site, the owner must validate its identity with its password. Otherwise, the transaction may not be made.

The member is the sole responsible for every act carried by its User, password or personal e-mail, which includes the responsibility for damages arising from the wrongful use by third parties, exempt LifeMiles LTD and the Airlines from the responsibility in case of wrongful use.

Date changes are possible only if there is availability in the same class in which the ticket was redeemed. Charges may apply to such date changes.

Route changes are not allowed on award tickets.


Web Page

LifeMiles program makes available to its members the www.lifemiles.com web page through which the member may carry the different transactions on line. The transactions which may be made on the web page shall be frequently updated, for which LifeMiles LTD reserves the right to disrupt, modify, update and/or alter such page and its contents, functionality and/or access without notice to the members.

LifeMiles LTD or the Airlines do not guarantee the continuous use of the web page, or that it works free of errors or problems, or free of virus; and LifeMiles LTD and the Airlines shall not be responsible for any interruption in the use of the web page, for virus contained or for unavailability. The member is responsible for protecting its equipment with an antivirus system. Also, LifeMiles LTD and the Airlines reserve the right to temporarily or permanently unable the web page, whether for technical, safety, control, maintenance reasons, for lack of electricity or any other reason.

The information, products and services from time to time published on the LifeMiles web page may include errors and/or not be updated and LifeMiles LTD or the Airlines shall not be responsible for the accuracy or veracity of the information contained in such page.

Links to other web pages may be found on the web page www.lifemiles.com through which the member may make transactions such as the accrual and/or redemption of Miles. LifeMiles LTD or the Airlines are not responsible for the content of such web pages, or for the confidentiality handled by other web pages with which it has links; for which it recommends the verification of the privacy policies of each one before entering data. The terms and conditions provided in such web pages with which the LifeMiles page has links shall apply in addition to the terms and conditions of the program to the transactions made through them.

LifeMiles or the Airlines shall not be responsible for the accuracy or truthfulness of the information contained on its web page, or of that provided by the transport companies, hotels and other touristic or travel service providers displaying on the web site, including without limitations, the truthfulness and/or accuracy of photographs, tariffs or prices, description of services and/or amenities, general description of services in general.

LifeMiles LTD and the Airlines shall not guarantee or assume any responsibility for damages that may arise from information or material which may be considered offensive and which arise and link the site to other sites or internet links, hotels, travel agencies and independent providers of touristic or travel services, and LifeMiles LTD and the Airlines shall not be responsible for the actions, errors, omissions, default or negligence of the providers of services, or for the damages arising under them. LifeMiles LTD and the Airlines shall not be responsible or shall reimburse any amount for the delays, cancellations, overselling, strike or any other cause directly or indirectly affecting the goods and services offered by the service providers, hotels, travel agencies and providers of touristic or travel services.

Terms of Use of the Mobile App for Mobile Devices

The term “App” means the software provided by LifeMiles LTD to offer services related to the LifeMiles Program and to the services of its allied airlines and/or commercial partners to be used in mobile devices with the operating systems that LifeMiles LTD may determine at its sole discretion, as well as its periodic updates and any other software or documentation that allows the use of the App.

The member understands that at the time he or she downloads the App he or she accepts the Permissions required by the App.

With its use of the App, the member accepts these Terms of Use, the Terms and Conditions of the LifeMiles Program and the LifeMiles Privacy Policy. These must be carefully read before signing in to the App and/or before accepting the terms.

The App, is currently available for mobile devices that function with the Android OS operating system. When the Application is available for the Apple iOS Operating System or any other operating system, the present Terms of Use will apply.

In order to be able to use the App, the member must have a mobile device compatible with an internet connection and download it through the authorized official stores of the respective operating system. LifeMiles LTD does not guarantee the availability or functionality of the App in all types of mobile devices or in all the corresponding operating systems.

The App is made available to the user free of charge and for his personal and non commercial use. LifeMiles LTD reserves the right to modify or disable the App at any time and due to any cause, as well as to apply economic surcharges for the application or the service provided to the user in accordance with these terms.

LifeMiles LTD will make reasonable efforts so that the App is available at all times. However, the member accepts that access to the App will be through a third party through the internet and through the mobile networks and that, in consequence, the quality and availability of the App may be affected by external factors beyond the control and responsibility of LifeMiles LTD.

LifeMiles LTD, its affiliates and subcontractors are not responsible for the unavailability of the App, of the difficulties or of the impossibility of downloading or access of its contents, nor of any other failure in the communications system that may provoke the unavailability of the App.

LifeMiles LTD will not be responsible for the technical service or maintenance of the App. Any of the personal information provided to LifeMiles LTD during the use of the App will be used solely in accordance with the Privacy Policy of LifeMiles LTD, available through www.LifeMiles.com

In no case may LifeMiles LTD be held responsible for any type of direct, indirect, special, punitive, exemplary or consequential loss or damage derived from the use or access to the App, including the loss of benefits or similar, due or not from the noncompliance of the parties, either from breach of contract, tort (including negligence), responsibility for the product or other.

LifeMiles LTD will not be responsible for any damage or alteration in the device as a result of the installation and use of the App, including, but not limited to, computer equipment, portable devices of mobile telephones.

The App and the software are supplied “as is” and “where is” with no type of guarantee.

The version of the App software may suffer periodic updates to add compatibility with new functions and services.

The App allows access to certain functions and makes certain transactions which will be governed by the Terms and Conditions of the LifeMiles Program. The member is the only one responsible for the transactions made in his account through the App.

a. Access to the LifeMiles account

To access the LifeMiles account through the App, the member must enter his LifeMiles account number and password. The session will remain active for 30 minutes from its log-in unless the member has activated the “Keep me logged in” option. If the member activates the “Keep me logged in” option, the session will remain active for 30 consecutive days each time the member signs in to a session through the App. LifeMiles LTD is not responsible for the personal information of the member shown in the App and that is viewed by third parties as a consequence of maintaining its session active.

b. Resetting the password

The member may reestablish its password only if it has at least one security question configured in its profile. The member must correctly complete the information so that a link may be sent to him or her by email to finish the process.

c. Affiliation to the LifeMiles Program

The interested party may subscribe to LifeMiles through the App by providing its complete name, e-mail address as well as any other information requested by LifeMiles as a requirement for the subscription. Once accepted within the program, the person becomes a member of the LifeMiles program and accepts the terms and conditions of the program and its privacy policy.

d. Profile Update

The member may update part of his information through the App providing his or her password.

e. Redemption of award tickets with Avianca

The redemption of award tickets through the App is available with the following restrictions:

  • A maximum of 4 award tickets may be redeemed per transaction.
  • The redemption of award tickets with promotional codes is not permitted. That is to say, only air tickets may be redeemed at the regular fare.
  • The redemption of award tickets in multi-city routes is not allowed.
  • All the amounts paid, either by flexible payment and airport local applicable taxes must be made in United States of America dollars.
  • The amount of miles to be redeemed and money paid pertains to the total transaction and not to each one of award tickets redeemed. Therefore, the amount of miles shown that will be discounted from the LifeMiles account of the member and the amount of money to be paid will be the total charged in the credit or debit card of the member.
  • At the moment of flight selection, the App shows an estimated value in money of the taxes applicable to the route. At the time of the payment the final amount of taxes to be paid will be shown.
  • It is possible that the availability of redemption products for award tickets may vary from one customer attention channel to another.
  • The App will show the mileage of the r lowest redemption product available for each of the flights of the selected route. To redeem an award ticket in a different redemption product to the one shown in the App, the member may do this through another customer attention channel.
  • For the member´s security before completing the redemption of the award ticket and payment, he or she must enter his or her password.

f. Display of the balance of miles that may be redeemed in one day through the membership card and/or the App

Through the App, in addition to consulting the total balance of miles, the member may also consult the available miles balance that can be redeemed in one day through the membership card and/or the QR code or bar code generated by the App. (hereinafter "the Codes"). The balance is calculated based on the limit of miles configured by the member in his account, which is configured in the registration process and enabling of the membership card and may be modified at any time through www.LifeMiles.com.

The balance shown in the App is solely for consults and may not be up to date. Therefore, it may vary with respect to the real balance in the member´s account. The balance that will predominate is the one that is consulted in the LifeMiles system at the time that the transaction is being made.

g. Miles calculator

With the miles calculator the member may calculate an estimate of the amount of miles necessary to make a redemption through the membership card and/or the QR code generated by the App according to the purchase amount and the discount provided by the Allied Participant, in case there was one. Notwithstanding, the member is responsible of verifying the amount of miles necessary to make the redemption of miles in the Allied Participant selected by the member before such redemption is made.

h. Allies and promotions

In the App, the member may consult the airlines and/or commercial allies with their respective accrual and redemption rates, as well as valid promotions. LifeMiles LTD reserves the right to modify and/or disable an ally and/or promotion without previous notice to the member; as well as to modify the accrual and or redemption rate of miles. The member is responsible of being informed on the amount of miles that it can accrued with the Allied Participant of its interest before making a transaction of accrual of miles. Also, the member is responsible of verifying the amount of miles necessary to make a redemption of miles with the allied participant selected by the member before making the redemption. The member is responsible of reading and accepting the terms and conditions of each promotion; which may view in www.LifeMiles.com

i. Generation of Codes for the accrual and redemption of miles

When LifeMiles LTD makes available to its members the possibility of accrual and redemption of miles through Codes generated by the App, the following terms will apply:

The accrual and redemption of miles through Codes generated by the App in a particular country or in a particular Allied Participant, will be available at the time and with the Allied Participants appointed by LifeMiles LTD at its sole discretion. The time and the Allied Participants in which this option will be available may be consulted in www.LifeMiles.com.

  • Accrual of Miles: if the member possesses an actual membership card with a serial number, using the Application the member may visualize the Code that he must present to the allied participant so that it may be captured through a scanner (hereinafter "scanner") and process the transaction of accrual of miles. In some countries and/or Allied Participants, the Code will show even if the Member doesn’t have an actual membership card.
  • Redemption of miles: if the partner has an enabled membership card, he may generate a Code for redemption with the Allied Participants. To generate the Code it is necessary that the member has a PIN and that it is entered into the App. To redeem, the member must show the allied participant the Code so that it is captured through a Scanner and process the transaction. For security purposes, the Code can only be viewed for a specific amount of time. LifeMiles is not responsible for transactions made by third parties using the Code, since for its generation is essential to enter a PIN in the Application. In some countries and/or Allied Participants, the Code will show even if the Member doesn’t have an actual enabled membership card.

The accrual and redemption transactions made through the codes generated in the App will be governed by the terms of the accrual and redemption of miles using the Membership card.

LifeMiles reserves the right to modify, broaden or eliminate in its whole the functionalities and conditions of the Mobile App for mobile devices.

j. Quantum Terms and conditions

Pagos Móviles ("Mobile Payments")

The Pagos Móviles product (which in this section shall be referred to as "Mobile Payments") available in the App allows Members to acquire an Electronic Certificate ("Quantum Electronic Certificate"), which may be used by the Member as a payment method between certain Merchants (as defined below) and the Member. The Quantum Electronic Certificate will be displayed on the Member´s smartphone or other compatible device as an electronic code consisting of a set of numbers and may also be called a voucher or coupon within the App.

A Quantum Electronic Certificate may be obtained through the redemption of Miles or by completing a purchase with money, in accordance with the terms and conditions set forth herein. In the event that the Quantum Electronic Certificate is purchased through the App, the member will receive a miles bonus for such purchase, as specified in these Terms and Conditions.

The issuer of the Quantum Electronic Certificate is Quantum Colombia S.A.S., which has entered into agreements or commercial alliances with certain merchants, under which such merchants accept the Quantum Electronic Certificate as a method of payment for the goods and / or services offered (the "Merchants" or the "Retailers").

Mobile Payments Terms and Conditions

When logging into the App, completing transactions to acquire Quantum Electronic Certificates, accepting or using any Quantum Electronic Certificate or by clicking on an "Accept", "Continue" or similar declaration box, in each case, the member expressively acknowledges and declares to LifeMiles Ltd., its respective subsidiaries, affiliates and agents (collectively, "LifeMiles") the acceptance of these terms and conditions applicable to the Mobile Payments product available through the LifeMiles App and the Terms and Conditions of the LifeMiles program, incorporated herein, as well as LifeMiles' privacy policy.

LifeMiles, at its sole discretion, may revise these terms and conditions at any time or modify the Mobile Payments product at any time, with or without notice. Additionally, available Merchants may vary from time to time with or without notice.

These terms and conditions for Mobile Payments govern the member´s access and usage of the Mobile Payments product, without requiring the incorporation of any additional covenant according to law or equity.

  1. Eligibility. The Mobile Payments product is only available to members of the LifeMiles program physically located in the Republic of Colombia. Any offer of any product or service made through Mobile Payments will not be valid where this product is not available or where it is prohibited.
  2. Acquiring Quantum Electronic Certificates through Redemption of Miles:
    1. The Mobile Payments product offers the possibility to acquire Quantum Electronic Certificates through the redemption of miles.
    2. The member must have sufficient miles in his LifeMiles account to complete the redemption. Miles will be debited from the Member's account at the time of redemption of the Quantum Electronic Certificate. If miles are not properly debited from the Member’s account when redeeming, LifeMiles may complete the debit of miles at any time.
    3. LifeMiles at its sole discretion will determine the number of miles required to obtain a Quantum Electronic Certificate, which is subject to change and may vary from member to member.
    4. Redemption of miles can only be made from a single account for each transaction. It is not possible to combine miles of two or more accounts into one transaction.
    5. Quantum Electronic Certificates purchased via Redemption of Miles will not be subject to mile accrual benefits.
  3. Acquisition of Quantum Electronic Certificates through Credit or Debit Cards.
    1. If available in the App, the member may also purchase Quantum Electronic Certificates using credit or debit cards through the App. The member must have a valid credit or debit card registered in his LifeMiles profile or must enter the data of a valid credit or debit card during the payment process, which may or may not be stored within the member profile, to complete the purchase of Quantum Electronic Certificate.
    2. The Member is responsible for registering a new credit or debit card if the previously registered card is no longer valid. To register a credit or debit card in the LifeMiles profile, the Member must select the option to save or register a credit or debit card in his or her LifeMiles profile while completing a Quantum Electronic Certificate transaction, or to do such registration previously, through the lifemiles.com website.
    3. The use of any credit or debit card is subject to all applicable rules and regulations in relation to financial institutions and / or issuers of credit or debit card, clearing house or other entity or association involved in transactions through credit or debit card.
  4. Conditions applicable to Quantum Electronic Certificate
    1. The issuer of the Quantum Electronic Certificate is Quantum Colombia S.A.S. ("Quantum"). Quantum has entered into agreements or alliances with the Merchants through which such Merchants have agreed to accept the Quantum Electronic Certificate as a method of payment for the goods and / or services they offer.
    2. The Quantum Electronic Certificate may be exchanged through the App immediately or within a period of time that shall not exceed three hundred and sixty-five (365) days after its issuance, whether for the total amount thereof or a portion of its value until the complete value is used, the acquire the desired products or services in a relevant Merchant chosen by the Member at the time of purchase. A Quantum Electronic Certificate can only be used to make payments in the Merchant that the member chooses at the time of issuance.
    3. Any Returns, credits and changes to the products or services purchased with such Quantum Electronic Certificate shall be governed by the applicable policies, terms and conditions of the Merchant, which may be subject to change at the sole discretion of Merchant, if permitted by law; therefore, the member only has the rights derived from any return or change of products in accordance to the applicable policies, terms and conditions of the relevant Merchant. For further details, the Member shall contact the relevant Merchant for additional information.
    4. Except as specifically set forth or permitted by policies, terms and conditions of the Merchant, Quantum Electronic Certificates may not be exchanged for cash or similar electronic products from other merchants or retailers, and they are not valid for prior purchases and may not be returned, credited, or modified.
    5. The value of a Quantum Electronic Certificate cannot be combined or transferred between different Quantum Electronic Certificates.
    6. The member is responsible for maintaining a record of the available balance of his or her Quantum Electronic Certificate, if applicable.
    7. If the Quantum Electronic Certificate that the Member has acquired is not delivered, or a Quantum Electronic Certificate is issued with an electronic code that does not work properly or the Quantum Electronic Certificate was issued to be used in a Merchant that is no longer participating in the Mobile Payments option, or if the member has any questions about miles earned or redeemed in connection with any transaction completed through Mobile Payments, the member may send his or her inquiry to support@lifemiles.com
    8. Any claim regarding omissions related to the purchase or delivery of a Quantum Electronic Certificate or any other situation regarding the use of Mobile Payments to complete a transaction will be subject to these terms and conditions.
    9. If for any reason the member is entitled to receive a refund for products or services obtained with a Quantum Electronic Certificate, the member agrees to receive credit on a Quantum Electronic Certificate or a replacement Quantum Electronic Certificate for such refund or other similar handling as provided in the applicable policies, terms and conditions of the Merchant. If the member has a problem with a purchase made with your Quantum Electronic Certificate, or in the event of any disagreement with the Merchant, the Member must handle such situations directly with the Merchant. All claims or disputes relating to Quantum Electronic Certificates purchased and delivered through Mobile Payments, which include but is no limited to, any dispute or claim related to products or services purchased with a Quantum Electronic Certificate, must be handled in accordance with the applicable policies, terms and conditions of the Merchant, and neither LifeMiles Ltd. nor the issuers of credit or debit cards used as a payment method, shall have any liability in respect of such disputes or claims.
    10. The resale and / or transfer of Quantum Electronic Certificates to third parties is prohibited. LifeMiles Ltd. reserves the right to cancel or make null any Quantum Electronic Certificate that has been resold or transferred to third parties in violation of this provision, without LifeMiles Ltd. having any liability to reimburse money or return miles that were redeemed for its acquisition.
    11. The purchase of products or services offered by the Merchants through the Quantum Electronic Certificates is based on agreements or commercial alliances that Quantum has entered into with such merchants, therefore, LifeMiles Ltd. does not assume responsibility whatsoever arising from the commercial relationship between Quantum and the Merchants.
    12. LifeMiles Ltd. does not guarantee the availability of products or services in the Merchants selected by members. LifeMiles Ltd. will not be liable for unavailability of products or services that the member wishes to acquire through the use of Quantum Electronic Certificates.
  5. Merchants.
    1. Quantum Electronic Certificates purchased through Mobile Payments can only be used in participating Merchants located in the Republic of Colombia.
    2. The information of the Merchants in which Quantum Electronic Certificates can be used is available in the App. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Merchants, applicable stores and locations are subject to change.
    3. If the price of any product or service purchased in a Merchant exceeds the amount in Colombian pesos of the Quantum Electronic Certificate used for such purchase, the Member shall pay the additional charges associated with the purchase using another method of payment.
  6. Access. LifeMiles Ltd. at its sole discretion, at any time and for any reason or for no reason, may prevent or restrict completely or partially the access to the Mobile Payments section of all or some LifeMiles members, with or without prior notice. Access may vary by member. Any fraudulent, abusive or illegal activity, actual or alleged, is sufficient reason for the termination of the use of the Mobile Payments section in the LifeMiles App or any Quantum Electronic Certificate in the sole discretion of LifeMiles Ltd. and may be referred to the appropriate authorities. These remedies are in addition to any other remedies that LifeMiles may have in accordance with the terms and conditions of the LifeMiles program or in accordance with applicable law or equity.
  7. Limits to Transactions. LifeMiles may, at its sole discretion, establish minimum and maximum amounts that a member can pay, or establish minimum and maximum miles to be redeemed, in such events, for the acquisition of Quantum Electronic Certificates, for a specified period of time (for example, Per day), per Merchant, per transaction, as well as other limits and restrictions, which are subject to change. Limits or other restrictions may vary from Merchant to Merchant.
  8. Unauthorized or fraudulent transactions.
    1. If the Member is aware of an unauthorized or fraudulent transaction through Mobile Payments in the account of any registered credit or debit card, he or she shall immediately contact the issuer of the relevant credit or debit card to report it. It is important that the member permanently monitors his or her credit or debit card accounts to identify any unauthorized or fraudulent transactions. The period to notify the issuer of a credit or debit card may be limited. Check the available terms of your credit or debit card issuer related to unauthorized or fraudulent transactions for additional information.
    2. Since all Quantum Electronic Certificates and any unused credit, are stored within the member's account via the App, and such electronic codes can be used as a methods of payment for purchases at Merchants and, as LifeMiles miles may be used to purchase Quantum Electronic Certificates (where available), the Member is responsible for all transactions completed with his or her unused credits and his or her LifeMiles miles, including unauthorized or fraudulent transactions, or if a third party has made an unauthorized use of the Member’s mobile device. If the member is aware of any unauthorized or fraudulent use of credits or miles that have not been utilized in his or her LifeMiles account, member must contact LifeMiles Ltd. as soon as possible through support@lifemiles.com.
  9. Accrual of Miles. If the Quantum Electronic Certificate was purchased using credit or debit card payment, LifeMiles Ltd. will accrue LifeMiles miles into the member's account in connection with Quantum Electronic Certificate Purchase transactions. The number of miles to be credited will be displayed before the Member completes the payment with his or her credit or debit card. LifeMiles under no circumstances accrues fractions of miles.
  10. Disclaimer. The Mobile Payments product is offered "as is, and with all its faults" and "subject to availability", without representations or guarantees of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, LifeMiles Ltd. makes no representation and / or warranties with respect to Mobile Payments and its content (including software), whether express, implied or legal, including but not limited to, warranties of title, merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose or use. LifeMiles Ltd. does not warrant that Mobile Payments, its information, content, materials, products (including software) or other services included or otherwise made available through Mobile Payments are free of errors or viruses or other harmful content. LifeMiles Ltd. makes no representation or warranty regarding the use of Mobile Payments in terms of its accuracy, speed, reliability or other. Notwithstanding the foregoing, LifeMiles Ltd. makes no warranties, express or implied, for any Quantum Electronic Certificate and for products or services purchased with Quantum Electronic Certificates offered through Mobile Payments, including but not limited to, warranties as of title, merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose or use. This disclaimer does not apply to any warranty offered by the merchant.
  11. Limitations of Liability.
    1. LifeMiles Ltd. will not be liable for any product or service of any other company or Merchant participating in Mobile Payments.
    2. In most cases, a Merchant where products or services may be purchased through the Quantum Electronic Certificates, is not a partner of LifeMiles Ltd. in any way, therefore LifeMiles Ltd., shall have no liability whatsoever with respect to any Certificate Electronic Quantum, product or service purchased with any Quantum Electronic Certificate or otherwise obtained by means of Mobile Payments, which is not acquired as expressly provided in these terms and conditions of Mobile Payments or as provided by applicable law.
    3. LifeMiles Ltd. shall not be liable for any damages, theft, loss of or impairment of use or value of the member´s mobile device compatible with Mobile Payments, or of Quantum Electronic Certificates, which occurs in connection with the use of Mobile Payments or Quantum Electronic Certificates.
    4. In no event shall LifeMiles Ltd.'s liability to the Members exceed the amount paid for any Quantum Electronic Certificate or other product or service obtained by the member through Mobile Payments.
    5. LifeMiles Ltd. shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, punitive or other damages arising or relating in any way to Mobile Payments or any third party site accessed through Mobile Payments
  12. Indemnity. The Member agrees to defend, indemnify and hold harmless LifeMiles Ltd., and each of its respective subsidiaries, affiliates, successors and assigns, as well as its shareholders, directors, officers, employees and agents from all claims, damages , costs and expenses, including attorneys' fees, arising out of or in connection with the use of Mobile Payments, or the acceptance or use of any Quantum Electronic Certificate, except in the event of non-compliance of any express obligation towards the member as set forth in these terms and conditions.
  13. Accrual and Redemption transactions made through Mobile Payments will be governed by the terms of the Accrual and Redemption of miles set forth in the LifeMiles Program Terms and Conditions.

Additional Terms and Conditions for Specific Transactions

The Member agrees that the specific transactions herein defined are subject to the following additional terms and conditions, and to the other conditions transmitted to the Member at the time of any transaction:

In the present Terms and Conditions, “Award Ticket” shall mean an air ticket obtained by redeeming miles of the LifeMiles Program.

a. Redemption of the Award Ticket in flights operated by AVIANCA (flights operated by Aerovias del Continente Americano, AVIANCA, S.A., TACA International Airlines, S.A., Lineas Aereas Costarricenses, S.A., Trans American Airlines, S.A. (Taca Peru)):

Every Award Ticket is valid for one year commencing on the date of redemption.

The Award Tickets do not allow change of route or name.

Courtesy upgrading by Elite levels does not apply for Award Tickets.

The maximum number of passengers reserved with Award Tickets is 8

Infants, children’s and other special discounts do not apply for Award Tickets; therefore the total amount of miles published in an Award Ticket for adults in confirmed SEAT shall apply.

Redemptions of Award Tickets in assisted channels such as the Call Center or Selling Point are subject to a charge for redemption, which depends on the selected route, time in advance of the flight and elite level of the redeeming Member.

Award Tickets may be acquired in different redemption products, each of which has been designed in order to satisfy the different needs and preferences. Thus, each redemption product has different applicable conditions, including, without limiting, the possibility to change the travel date, the cost of such change of  the Award Ticket, among others. The

Member is responsible for verifying and getting acquainted with the conditions of the redemption product it acquired prior to the respective redemption.

When combining different redemption products, the conditions applicable to the whole Award Ticket (such as change of date, reimbursements and Mileage accrual) are those of the most restrictive product.

Change of dates are allowed within the validity of the Award Ticket with the respective charge for change of date, which may vary depending on the redemption product acquired, the Schedule acquired, country of redemption and channel used to make the change. LifeMiles shall not be responsible for the lack of seats for the Member to make a change of date in its Award Ticket.

Award Tickets are reimbursable by paying a fee that varies depending on the redeemed route, the redemption channel and other circumstances, Accurate information of the reimbursement cost shall be informed at the time of redeeming the Award Ticket. The Member is responsible for reviewing all conditions of the Award Ticket including reimbursement conditions before redeeming the Award Ticket and requesting it´s reimbursement.

Award Tickets partially used are not reimbursable

Award Tickets do not have any commercial value, for which they may not to be sold to third parties. If a sale to third parties is proven, the Award Ticket loses its validity and may not be used to fly, and in addition to the other rights of LifeMiles, the account of the user shall be deleted with its balance to the date.

The purchase of Miles during the redemption process of Award Tickets is not reimbursable.

For information of baggage or special services policies the Member must contact the operator(s) airline(s) of its schedule.

In case a passenger elects the option of flexible payment product (at the time of redeeming, the payment is made partly with Miles and partly with money) this Award Ticket is considered an Award Ticket completely redeemed with Miles, since the purchase of Miles is made with money as well as the payment of taxes applicable to such purchase.
In case of a reimbursement of an Award Ticket obtained through flexible payment (in case such reimbursement is applicable), the reimbursement shall be made through the redeposit in the LifeMiles account of the Member of the total amount of Miles of the acquired product; collected money through the purchase of Miles during the process of redemption using flexible payment shall never be reimbursed.

Taxes, fees and contributions collected at the time of redeeming an Award Ticket related to the travel Schedule shall be object of reimbursement according to the taxation rules of each country.

LifeMiles does not guarantee the availability of seats on the dates and schedules selected by the Member. LifeMiles shall not be responsible for the lack of seats for the Member to redeem Miles for an Award Ticket.

The minimum anticipation time to make a redemption is forty eight (48) hours prior to the flight.

LifeMiles shall not assume any responsibility in relation to the services rendered by the airline operating the Award Ticket flight or for the flight itself.

b. Redemption of Award Tickets in flights operated by Aerogal

  • Award Tickets have a validity of one year commencing on the date of issue
  • The penalty for change of date / Schedule has a cost of $25 USD plus local taxes (local taxes depend on the applicability of taxes in each country), LifeMiles shall not be responsible for the lack of seats for the Member to make a change of date in an Award Ticket.
  • Maximum amount of passengers for each reservation: 6
  • Award Tickets are not reimbursable.
  • Award Tickets may not be endorsed.
  • Award Tickets do not accrue Miles.
  • They do not allow change of route.
  • For information of baggage or special services policies the Member must contact Aerogal.
  • Infants, children’s and other special discounts do not apply to Award Tickets; therefore the total amount of Miles published in an Award Ticket for an adult in a confirmed seat shall be applied
  • In case a passenger elects the option of flexible payment product (at the time of redemption the payment is made partly with Miles and partly with money) this ticket is considered an Award Ticket completely redeemed with Miles, since Miles are purchase with money as well as the payment of taxes applicable to such purchase.
  • The Award Ticket is subject to the conditions of the product selected for the redemption.
  • Award Tickets may be acquired in different redemption products, each one of which has been designed with the purpose to satisfy the different needs and preferences. Therefore each redemption product has different applicable conditions. The Member is responsible for verifying and getting acquainted with the conditions of the redemption product it acquired before making the respective redemption.
  • LifeMiles does not guarantee the availability of seats on the dates and schedules selected by the Member. LifeMiles shall not be responsible for the lack of seats for the Member to redeem Miles for an Award Ticket.
  • The minimum anticipated time to redeem is seventy two (72) hours prior to the flight.
  • LifeMiles does not assume any responsibility in relation to the services rendered by the airline operating the flight of an Award Ticket or for the flight itself.

c. Redemption of Award Tickets in Airlines members of Star Alliance (including flights combined with routes of AVIANCA)

The present conditions apply to the redemption of Award Tickets in routes operated by Airlines members of Star Alliance. For the redemption of Award Tickets in routes operated exclusively by Avianca, the conditions of section b) above shall be applicable, but in case the Award Ticket combines flights operated by Airlines of Star Alliance, including Avianca, the present conditions shall be applicable.

Award Tickets have a validity of one year commencing on its date of issue
Infants, children’s and other special discounts do not apply to Award Tickets; therefore the total amount of Miles published for an Award Ticket for an adult in a confirmed seat shall be applied.

Cabin Availability for Award Tickets is subject to the operation and authorizacion of each Air Partner

Redemption of award tickets in mixed cabins (meaning combining segments in economy, business or first class) is allowed under the following conditions:

  • Mixed cabins are only allowed when there is no availability on the preferred cabin selected when searching any of the segments in the Origen/Destination. If the member does not select a preferred cabin the search will be made in Economy Class.
  • Mixed cabins are only allowed between the selected preferred cabin and inferior cabins.
  • If for a segment there is more tan one cabin available, the combination will be made with the highest cabin available.
  • The mileage needed for the whole award ticket corresponds to the mileage for the highest cabin.
  • Reimbursement and date change conditions for the award ticket are the conditions of the highest cabin of the ticket.
  • Date changes are subject to availability. If there is no availability on the redeemed cabin on the desired date, if the member chooses to do so, cabin changes are allowed. Change in cabins (even to an inferior cabin) will not result in a redeposit of the redeemed miles. For date changes to proceed at least one of the segments of each Origen/Destination must be on the highest cabin redeemed.

The charge for redemption of an Award Ticket through www.lifemiles.com with Star Alliance Airlines is USD 25 + local taxes. Redemption of Award Tickets in other channels shall be subject to a redemption charge depending on the selected route, time in advance of the flight and elite level of the redeeming Member.

The service charge with Star Alliance Airlines is non-reimbursable.

For information of baggage or special services policies the Member must contact the airline(s) operating its schedule.

A penalty for change of dates of $150 USD plus applicable local taxes (local taxes depend on the applicability of taxes in each country)

The change of dates or Schedule in Award Tickets are subject to the following conditions:

  • Changes of date are subject to seat availability in the airline operating the flight;
  • In case the Award Ticket has not been used in any of its portions, the Member may change a Star Alliance Airline with which it shall fly under the following conditions:
    • Change of flight Origin - Destination is not allowed
    • The incorporation of Stop Over not previously existing in the schedule is not allowed.
    • Any variation in taxes must be paid by the Member.
  • If the Award Ticket has been used in any of its portions it may only make changes in the same airline.

Changes of date or Schedule in Award Tickets redeemed with an Airline member of Star Alliance may be made exclusively through any channel of LifeMiles (Call Center, Selling Point), irrespective the geographical location of the Member. Changes in the operating airline are not allowed.

The minimum anticipation time for redemptions with Star Alliance Airlines is forty eight (48) hours prior to the flight.

Award Tickets are reimbursable by paying a fee that varies depending on the redeemed route, the redemption channel and other circumstances, Accurate information of the reimbursement cost shall be informed at the time of redeeming the Award Ticket. The Member is responsible for reviewing all conditions of the Award Ticket including reimbursement conditions before redeeming the Award Ticket and requesting it´s reimbursement.

Partially used Award Tickets are not reimbursable.

In case a passenger elects the option of flexible payment product (at the time of redemption the payment is made partly with Miles and partly with money) this ticket is considered an

Award Ticket completely redeemed with Miles, since Miles are purchased with money as well as the payment of taxes applicable to such purchase.

In case of the reimbursement of an Award Ticket obtained through a flexible payment, if such reimbursement is applicable, it shall be made through a deposit in the LifeMiles account of the Member of the totality of Miles of the product acquired and in no case money collected from the purchase of Miles during the redemption process using flexible payment shall be reimbursed.

Taxes, fees and contributions collected at the time of redeeming an Award Ticket related to the travel Schedule shall be subject to reimbursement according to the taxation rules of each country.

Award Tickets shall be subject to the conditions of the products selected for redemption. The Member is responsible for verifying and getting acquainted with the conditions of the redemption product it acquires before the respective redemption.

LifeMiles does not guarantee the availability of seats on the dates and schedules selected by the Member. LifeMiles shall not be responsible for the lack of seats for the Member to redeem Miles for an Award Ticket.

LifeMiles does not assume any responsibility in relation to the services rendered by the airline operating the flight of the Award Ticket or the flight itself.

d. Redemption of Award Tickets in flight operated by Iberia

  • LifeMiles Members may redeem in routes operated by IBERIA only and exclusively in the following regions:
    • From Central America to Spain or Paris (Orly Airport)
    • From Puerto Rico/Cuba/Dominican Republic to Spain and Paris (Orly Airport)
    • Internal flights in Spain and from Madrid to Paris (Orly Airport)
    • Any redemption ticket from *Central America, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru with destination to Orly must be made via Madrid (Barajas)
  • Every Award Ticket with Iberia is valid for 1 year commencing on the redemption date.
  • Award Tickets with Iberia do not allow change of route and may only be return tickets not permitting stops in route.
  • Award Tickets with Iberia are reimbursable under the same conditions as Award Tickets on Avianca and Star Alliance.
  • Infants, children’s and other special discounts do not apply for Award Tickets; therefore the total amount of Miles published in an Award Ticket shall apply for an adult with confirmed seat.
  • Charges for redemption of Award Tickets through www.lifemiles.com with Iberia are USD 25 + taxes. The redemption of Award Tickets in other channels shall be subject to a charge for redemption depending on the selected route, time in advance of the flight and elite level of the redeeming Member.
  • For information of the baggage or special service policies the Member must contact Iberia directly.
  • Change of dates applies within the validity of the Award Ticket with the respective charge for service of $150 USD + local taxes.
  • In case a passenger elects the option of the flexible payment product (in case at the time of redeeming the payment is made partly with Miles and partly with money), this Ticket shall be considered a ticket completely redeemed with Miles, since money is used to purchase the Miles as well as to pay the taxes applicable to such purchase.
  • The Award Ticket is subject to the conditions of the product selected to redeem. The Member is responsible for verifying and getting acquainted with the conditions of the redemption product it acquires before making the respective redemption.
  • LifeMiles does not guarantee availability of seats on the dates and schedules selected by the Member. LifeMiles shall not be responsible for the lack of seats for the Member to redeem Miles for an Award Ticket.
  • LifeMiles does not assume any responsibility related to the services rendered by the airline operating the flight of the Award Ticket or for the flight itself.

e. Purchase of Miles:

  • Minimum of Miles to purchase: 1,000
  • Maximum of Miles to purchase per Member each calendar year, including bonuses in case of promotions: 150,000
  • Miles must be purchased in multiples of 1,000 Miles
  • Each Package of Miles is sold in blocks of 1,000 Miles at a cost which may vary depending on the channel and country where the purchase is made. The sale of Miles may be subject to local taxes, which may vary in each country. The price of the Miles package and applicable taxes shall be informed to the Member at the time of the purchase.
  • The Miles purchased and the additional Miles for bonuses during promotional periods do not apply to upgrade to Elite status
  • The purchase of Miles is an irreversible transaction which may not be reimbursed.
  • The purchases of Miles within the redemption process using the Flexible Payment option are not accounted for the maximum yearly miles purchase allowed.

f. Transference of Miles between Members accounts:

  • The Member may transfer Miles in blocks of 1,000 Miles at a cost which may vary depending on the channel and country where the transference is made. The transference of Miles may be subject to local taxes, which vary in each country. The price of the Miles package and applicable taxes shall be informed to the Member at the time of making the transference.
  • The transference of Miles is an irreversible transaction which may not be reimbursed
  • The Miles credited by transference do not apply to upgrade to Elite status.
  • Maximum of Miles to be transferred in a calendar year: 75,000 miles.
  • Maximum of Miles to receive in a calendar year: 75,000 miles.

g. Donation of Miles:

  • The Bank of Miles is a fund of Miles donated by LifeMiles Members intending to help those charity institutions or low-income individuals, or for humanitarian purposes requesting Avianca and/or TACA services.
  • These Miles are used to provide air tickets to fly in any route of Avianca and/or TACA.
  • There is no minimum or maximum balance for the Donation of Miles.
  • The donation of Miles from the account of the Member to the Bank of Miles shall be effective immediately upon accepting the transaction
  • The donation of miles shall be an irreversible transaction.

h. Redemption of Miles through the Redemption Catalogue:

  • The Member understands that the redemption does not constitute a consumption relationship, since it only consists of the redemption of an award under the Miles accrued under the LifeMiles program. Therefore any transactions to redeem miles for awards or products do not constitute a trade.
  • Awards may only be redeemed and delivered to addressees registered in the country of origin of the catalogue. The member shall be responsible for providing complete and detailed information of the address to deliver communications, telephone and electronic mail at the time of redeeming in order to secure a successful delivery of the awards exchanged. Upon delivering the award, LifeMiles shall not be responsible for any damage or loss of the product.
  • At the time of approving the redemption of its awards, LifeMiles has 30 business days to deliver at the registered address. In case of a wrong address and unavailability of the redeemed award or of any other inconvenience, the member shall be notified informing the options or requesting the correction of the delivery address, as the case may be. In these cases the 30 day period shall commence from the date of receiving answer from the Member.
  • In case the delivery may not be completed due to unavailability of the award, wrong delivery address or any other inconvenience with the information provided by the member or related to the award product, LifeMiles shall contact the member by email to validate its information and/or offer replacement options. Only in case of unavailability of the award, the member may request a reimbursement of the miles redeemed. After receiving this communication the member shall have a maximum term of 30 calendar days to respond; if upon the expiration of such term LifeMiles has not received any response from the member, its shall proceed to cancel the redemption and to refund of the miles into the members LifeMiles account.
  • LifeMiles shall only be responsible to delivery the awards at the address registered or provided by the member. The delivery of the award(s) redeemed is not personalized; therefore it may be delivered to any individual at the delivery address provided, and thus recording a successful delivery. The member is responsible to keep its information updated.
  • The individual receiving the award shall be responsible for opening and verifying it before acknowledging receipt to its satisfaction and execute the delivery documentation. If the awards or package arrive with physical damage, please abstain from receiving it by returning it to the carrier, making the respective notation in the document. Upon acknowledging satisfactory reception the delivered award shall be considered accepted. From that time there may not be any claim for shortages or alleged unconformities not disclosed upon verifying the award.
  • Upon receiving and accepting the awards in accordance with the above, it shall be covered with the guarantee provided by the manufacturer which is detailed in the guarantee certificate; however, LifeMiles waives every responsibility arising from the guarantee upon evidencing that the defect comes from:
    • Force majeur or acts of God
    • Acts of a third party
    • Wrongful use of the goods by the consumer duly supported by technical concept of the manufacturer, importer or dealer
    • The consumer not attending the installation, use or maintenance instructions detailed in the manual of the award and in the guarantee.
    • Any other indicated in the respective Guarantee Certificate
  • The Member authorizes LifeMiles to share its data with the provider of the Catalogue product and the carrier company in order to redeem the Miles and for the Member to be able to relieve the redeemed product.

i. Terms and Conditions for the LifeMiles Catalog in Colombia

  • The LifeMiles Catalog is a site owned and operated by Linio Colombia S.A.S. The site is not hosted and it is not property of LifeMiles.
  • Once you are in Linio Colombia, S.A.S.´s site, you are subject to the terms and conditions of the site and all aspects of your purchases will be subject to such terms.
  • All transactions complete on Linio Colombia, S.A.S.´s site will be handled by Linio Colombia, S.A.S. and will constitute a contract between you and Linio, and it is independent from your relationship with LifeMiles. Neither LifeMiles nor its affiliates will be responsible for the products obtained through the Site.
  • Linio Colombia S.A.S. is a commercial partner of LifeMiles and it has been chosen to offer you the benefit of having more and better options to redeem your miles. Linio Colombia S.A.S. is an online store that has design a special catalog for LifeMiles members, putting at your disposal all their knowledge and expertise in the selling of goods.
  • Because of our partnership, Linio Colombia S.A.S. offers to sell a variety of products to LifeMiles members. When you choose the product of your interest in the catalog and finish the transaction, LifeMiles will debit the corresponding amount of miles from your account. Then LifeMiles will pay Linio Colombia S.A.S. for the redemption of the product. Remember that it is not possible to redeem a product if such product is not in the special catalog designed for LifeMiles members.
  • Your redemption must be completed in the LifeMiles Catalog site. You will not be able to complete these types of transactions through our call centers or our points of sale.
  • When redeeming you miles, you will have the flexible payment option. Flexible payment is the option to purchase a product partially with the existing miles in your LifeMiles account and buy additional miles needed to complete the transaction. You must take into account that by using flexible payment you are buying miles to complete your purchase and you are not paying for part of the product.
  • If you have any inquiry related to the right of withdrawal, the selling of products, their quality or the return of the products offered by Linio Colombia S.A.S., it is recommended that you contact Linio Colombia S.A.S. directly by email to tiendalifemiles@linio.com or by calling +57 1 4864999 in Colombia. This way you will get a faster answer to your request.
  • If according to service policies of Linio Colombia S.A.S. or if in exercise of the right of withdrawal you decide to return a product Linio Colombia S.A.S. will make sure your miles are put back in to your LifeMiles account.
  • Products redeemed in our Colombian Catalog may only be delivered within Colombia in most cities. Remember to specify your delivery address before completing your purchase.
  • Once your order is confirmed, it is not possible to modify your delivery address. You may change your delivery address for your next purchase directly at checkout in the LifeMiles Catalog Site.
  • Delivery dates depend on the type of product you choose and your geographical location. You will be able to verify your specific delivery date before completing your purchase. Remember that delivery estimates are based on work days (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and holidays), initiating as soon as your redemption is confirmed.
  • Displayed prices include taxes.
  • Depending on your delivery address and your purchase specifications (weight, size, volume), shipping cost may vary. This cost will be specified in miles for your revision before finalizing your purchase and will be added to the total redemption value before you confirm your purchase. in case of order cancelations, shipping costs are non-refundable.
  • In the case of cancelations or returns of products redeemed using flexible payment, the complete corresponding amount of miles will be re-deposited in to you LifeMiles account, according to the this terms and conditions. You will not receive a cash refund for the amount of miles you purchased to complete the original redemption transaction.

j. Accrual and redemption of Miles in commercial partners with "Shopping with LifeMiles":

This section contains regulations applicable to the accrual and redemption of miles in the commercial partners affiliated to Shopping with LifeMiles and with which LifeMiles has agreements to such effect (herein “ Commercial Partner”).

The accrual and redemption of miles can be executed through one or more of the following methods (“Methods”) depending on the country and availability in each Commercial Partner:

  1. By swiping the membership card´s magnetic strip on an electronic device (herein the “POS Terminal”) that holds the loyalty platform to process the transactions of redemption and accrual of miles
  2. By entering your national ID number (“ID Number”) in the POS Terminal or in the App, as long as all the requirements are met;
  3. By entering your LifeMiles membership number in the POS Terminal or the App.

Every Commercial Partner can have available one or multiple accrual and redemption Methods. The member must check www.LifeMiles.com to know which accrual and redemption Methods are available in the Commercial Partner and country of their choice.

The POS Terminals are operated by a processing network selected by LifeMiles LTD and have been customized to process LifeMiles transactions.

The accrual and redemption of miles through the Methods is not available in all the countries where LifeMiles operates and LifeMiles will communicate to its members once this functionality is available in their country of residence. The member can check in www.LifeMiles.com to see the countries and Methods available. The accrual and redemption of Miles of the Program through the Methods may only be made with the Commercial Partners and in their specific stores that have agreements with LifeMiles LTD. to such effects which may be consulted in  www.LifeMiles.com. The Commercial Partners may vary without prior notice to the members. To find out the available specific stores and Methods the member must consult with the Commercial Partner.

The membership card is for the member´s personal use and it is not a financial, credit or debit instrument. Its use is limited to the accrual and redemption of the benefits of the LifeMiles Program by the member with the Commercial Partner and other benefits granted by the LifeMiles program.

Not all of the membership cards provide the possibility to accrue or redeem miles through POS Terminals and/or Scanners. For accrual and redemption transactions through POS terminals, only those membership cards that have a serial number on the back may be used. For accrual transactions using the bar code printed in the back of the membership card, the member must have a membership card that has a bar code printed on the back and a serial number. For accrual and redemption transactions using the Codes generated by the App, the member must have the App installed on their mobile phone and also have an actual membership card that has a serial number on the back, except in some countries and/or Commercial Partners where the generation of Codes is not subject to the Member having an actual membership card with a serial number on the back. Once the member has received the membership card with the serial number on the back, the member must register it and create a PIN in www.LifeMiles.com prior to its use, registering the serial number printed on the back of the membership card except in some countries and/or Commercial Partners where it is not necessary that the membership card in enabled for the redemption of miles. For transactions made by providing the member´s ID Number it is mandatory that your ID Number has been previously registered in the member´s LifeMiles profile.

In order to make the redemption of Miles, the member must create a PIN. If the member has not completed this process, he may not redeem miles in the Commercial Partners.

On the Member profile, the member may establish a limit of miles that may be redeemed through the Methods in one day. The member may set this limit of modify it or also cancel it at any time after, by signing into www.LifeMiles.com

The membership card can be disabled if the member does not wish to allow the possibility to redeem the miles through in Commercial Partners, through www.LifeMiles.com, the App or Avianca´s Call Center. In such case, the member may not redeem miles with Commercial Partners, but he may accrue miles using such mechanisms. Additionally the member will be able to redeem miles using its ID Number.

To make the redemption of miles through the Methods, it is necessary that the member have a PIN number, which may be created or modified on his profile in his LifeMiles account. This is the same PIN number that according to these Terms and Conditions the member may utilize to make the transactions through the Avianca´s Call Center. Such PIN number must be entered by the member in the POS Terminal or the App each time the member wishes to make a transaction of redemption of miles as a security measure. The use and safe keeping of the PIN number is of the exclusive responsibility of the member, for which it may not be shared with third parties.

Neither LifeMiles LTD nor the Airlines assume any responsibility for miles redemptions made using any of the Methods, since the redemption of miles requires the member to enter the PIN number in the POS Terminal or the App to complete the transaction.

Neither LifeMiles LTD nor the Airlines are responsible for transactions made by third parties using the Codes generated by the App, since for its creations it is mandatory that the member has signed in to the App and entered its PIN number. The safekeeping of the PIN number and the Codes generated by the App is the sole responsibility of the Member. LifeMiles LTD is not responsible fi the Code is captured by a third party without the member´s consent.

If the member enters his PIN number incorrectly more than 5 consecutive times, when trying again to make a redemption, his membership card will disabled for the redemption of miles through POS Terminals and the member must sign in www.LifeMiles.com to again enable his membership card. In this case, the membership card may be used only for accrual of miles transactions.

For redemption transactions using the Code generated by the App, the membership card will be disabled if the Code generated by the App is scanned and is rejected more than 5 consecutive times as a result of a mistake in the PIN number entered. Additionally, the creation of the Code by the App does not guarantee the success or approval of the redemption transaction.

In all the cases that according to these Terms and Conditions it is permitted to suspend or cancel the member´s participation or freeze the account of the member in the LifeMiles program, as well as in those cases in which the member´s account accessible through www.LifeMiles.com is blocked, the membership card will be automatically disabled as well as the ability to sign in to the App.

In the case of loss or theft of the membership card and/or capture of the Code generated by the App by a third party the member must cancel the membership card by signing in www.LifeMiles.com or by calling Avianca´s Call Center. The cancellation of the card will not allow the possibility of accruing or redeeming miles through POS Terminals or the Codes generated by the App, however the other services of the LifeMiles program will remain enabled. LifeMiles will not be responsible for transactions made by third parties before the member cancels the membership card, since in order to make a redemption it is required to enter the PIN number into the POS Terminal or the App to complete the transaction and/or create the Code. After, if the member desires a new membership card, he must request its replacement subject to the policies in effect at that time.

The member is responsible of demanding, and of keeping the voucher and of keeping his email address updated in his LifeMiles profile in order to receive the confirmation email of all transactions of accrual and all other transaction of redemption of miles, since the voucher is the only document admissible to prove the transaction made. The presentation of the original voucher or confirmation email of accrual or redemption of miles is required to make any claim related to the accrual or redemption of Miles through POS Terminals and or the Codes generated by the App. It is the responsibility of the Member to enter a valid email address in his LifeMiles profile in order to receive confirmation emails.

Neither the Airlines nor LifeMiles LTD assume the responsibility for the products or services that are offered by the Commercial Partners.

The member is the only responsible for checking the products or services that he purchases and that such products or services comply with the characteristics that satisfy their necessities and if they are ideal for the purpose for which they were purchased. In case a member has a claim in relation to the products or services he purchases, either related to the accrual of miles or the redemption of miles the member must submit its claim exclusively with the Commercial Partners. The member accepts and acknowledges that customer service, return and warranty policies of the Commercial Partners apply to the purchase of their products and services. The member accepts that in case a product from which miles were accrued is returned, LifeMiles LTD may debit the miles obtained for the purchase of the returned product.

It is the Commercial Partner´s responsibility to comply the applicable law in relation to the sale of its products and the provision of its services obtained through the redemption of miles or those for which miles will be granted. Neither LifeMiles LTD nor the Airlines are responsible for the Commercial Partner obligations related to the sale of its products and the provision of its services.

The Commercial Partner is the sole responsible for the accurate accrual of miles in the members account. All claims or complaints for the lack of or error in the accrual of miles must be sent to the Commercial Partner in which the purchase was made by presenting the voucher or confirmation email of accrual of miles that proves the transaction.

The miles obtained through the purchase of products or services with the Commercial Partner will not be taken into account to attain or maintain an elite status within the Program and once such miles are entered into the member´s account they are subject to these Terms and Conditions.

The accrual of miles must be performed at the same time of the purchase of the products or services, in consequence, retroactive claims are not permitted. It is at the Commercial Partner sole discretion, without it being an obligation, to accrue miles by virtue of claims from customers who at the time of the purchase of products or services did not request the accrual of miles or did not present their membership card or the Code generated by the App.

The accrual of miles through the Methods will be reflected in the member´s account at the latest 5 business days after the transaction is made.

For the accrual of miles, the amount of miles to be accrued for the purchase of products or services of the Commercial Partner will be established by each Commercial Partner. Such amount of miles to be accrued may be consulted by the member at www.LifeMiles.com for each Commercial Partner. The accrued miles will be calculated based on the amount of the purchase without taxes. For the accrual of miles, the amount purchased in local currency will be converted to dollars of the United States of America at the current exchange rate in force on the day of such purchase established by a source selected by LifeMiles LTD. The amount of miles to be accrued will be calculated based on this amount according to the mile’s accrual rate established by each Commercial Partner. Each Commercial Partner may establish additional conditions for the accrual of Miles, which must be consulted by the member inwww.LifeMiles.com

It is at the sole discretion of each Commercial Partner to accrue miles when a member makes a purchase of a product or service through the redemption of miles. The member must consult with the Commercial Partner of his choice whether or not it allows mile accrual at the moment of purchase.

LifeMiles LTD and the Airlines are only responsible for crediting the miles based on the information provided by the Commercial Partner It is the member´s responsibility to check the purchase amount on the voucher, since such amount will be used to calculate the amount of miles that will be accrued in to the member´s account. All claims from members that do not agree with the amount of miles accredited in their account must be presented directly to the Commercial Partner.

Each Commercial Partner may reserve the right to provide a service or product based on its own attention policies and according to the applicable laws of each country. Neither LifeMiles LTD. nor the Airlines assume any responsibility in case a Commercial Partner does not provide a service or product in such cases.

For the redemption of miles, LifeMiles will establish an exchange rate of local currency to Miles.

Both the accrual rate as well as the local currency redemption rate may vary at any time, without notification to the member. The member is responsible of inquiring about the amount of miles he can accrue with the Commercial Partner of their choice before making a transaction of accrual of miles. Also, the member is responsible of verifying the amount of miles necessary to make a redemption of Miles with the Commercial Partner selected by the member prior to such redemption. The introduction of the member´s PIN number at the time of a redemption transaction and/or at the time of the Code´s creation constitutes the unequivocal acceptance of the redemption by the member and therefore that the miles be debited from his account. It is the member´s responsibility to check at the time of redemption that the voucher or confirmation email of redemption of Miles corresponds with the conversion rate of local currency to miles established by LifeMiles. The amount of miles to be debited from the members account by virtue of the redemption of miles with Commercial Partners through the Methods, will be the showed in the corresponding voucher or confirmation email.

Each Commercial Partner may establish a minimum and/or maximum amount required for the accrual and redemption of miles. The member must consult such amounts with the Commercial Partner of their choice.

Each Commercial Partner may establish additional conditions for the accrual and/or redemption of miles, which may be consulted by the member at www.LifeMiles.com

Redemption transactions made through POS Terminals can only be reversed on the same day on which the transaction that wants to be reversed was made, before the daily closing of the POS Terminal is performed by the Commercial Partner, and only if the reversion proceeds in accordance with the conditions established by the corresponding Commercial Partner.

Redemption transactions made through the Code generated by the App can be reversed according to the conditions established by the corresponding Commercial Partner.

Neither LifeMiles LTD nor the Airlines guarantee to members that the POS Terminals or the App (including their communications system or connection) and/or the loyalty platform for the processing of accrual and redemption transactions will function free of error and without interruptions. The Commercial Partner is responsible for notifying any error or malfunction in the POS Terminal to the processing network and it is the former´s responsibility to correct the errors or malfunctions. The creation of a PIN to redeem miles, as well as the use thereof of the membership card to accrue or to redeem miles through POS Terminals, the bar code printed on the back of the membership card and the Codes generated by the App, constitutes unequivocal conduct of the express acceptance of the member of these Terms and Conditions and of LifeMiles Privacy Policy.

LifeMiles reserves the right to modify, add to, or eliminate the accrual and redemption of miles through the reading of the membership card´s magnetic strip by the POS Terminals, the scanning of the bar code printed in the back of the membership card, or the Codes generated by the App, entirely, at its own discretion, without the need of notifying the member.


CENIT Award

CENIT is an award given by the Airlines to certain members of the LifeMiles program qualified for this award, in accordance with the conditions herein set forth:

a. Conditions for the CENIT Award

  • Be a minimum of sixty years of age according to the information provided by the LifeMiles program member or any other way satisfactory to the Airlines;
  • Have a minimum of 15 continuous years as member of the LifeMiles program or of any other of the prior frequent flyer programs operated by the airlines, including AviancaPlus, Aeromillas and DISTANCIA, and any previous version of the same (each one “the Previous PVF”);
  • Have accumulated in the CENIT Qualifying Miles, accredited as a whole in the LifeMiles program and a Previous PVF, a minimum of one million CENIT Qualifying Miles. “CENIT Qualifying Miles” are: (A) miles accumulated commencing from March 1st 2011 within the LifeMiles program that, according to these Terms and Conditions, as modified from time to time, count towards achieving the attainment of a level of membership LifeMiles Silver Élite, LifeMiles Gold Élite or LifeMiles Diamond Élite, and (B) (i) all the miles accumulated between January 1st of 1992 up to March 1st of 2011 under Avianca Plus, that according to the same qualify to obtain the elite levels of the membership (independent of how the different elite levels were named); (ii) all of the miles accumulated between January 1st of 2004 up to March 1st 2011 under the DISTANCIA program, that according to the same qualify to attain the elite membership levels (independent of how the different elite levels were named); and (iii) all the miles accumulated between January 1st of 2009 and March 1st of 2011 under the Aeromillas program, that according to the same qualify to obtain the elite membership levels (independent of how the different elite levels were named).
    Notwithstanding the above, the definition of “CENIT Qualifying Miles” does not include (A) the miles accumulated for flying on airlines belonging to Star Alliance by members of the LifeMiles program or in other airlines by the members of the Previous PVFs, (B) miles granted by the LifeMiles program or in a Previous PVF as a special bonus for the elite membership level, (C) the miles that a member has purchased directly from the LifeMiles program or from the Previous PVF, (D) the miles accumulated from purchase made with a cobranded credit card of the LifeMiles program, of a Previous PVF and/or from and Airline, and (E) the miles accumulated and/or transferred as a result of the participation of the member with any other air participant different from the Airlines, or financial or commercial participant of the LifeMiles program and/or any other Previous PVF.

b. Benefits of the CENIT Award

  • The CENIT Award given to a member that has accumulated more than one million CENIT Qualifying Miles will be given the CENIT 1 million membership (C*) and the LifeMiles Gold Elite level as long as their CENIT award is valid. In case the CENIT 1 million member at the time of receiving the CENIT Award, had the LifeMiles Diamond Elite membership level, such member will keep this level as long as he keeps on complying with the requirements to maintain the same under these Terms and Conditions and if he no longer fulfills them, will have the LifeMiles Gold Elite level, and for each level may enjoy the benefits that are applicable.
  • The member that receives the CENIT Award that has accumulated more than two million CENIT Qualifying Miles will have the CENIT 2 million (C**) member level, and will also have the LifeMiles Diamond Elite level as long as their CENIT Award is is valid. In this manner, will have the right to enjoy all the benefits that are in force for the LifeMiles Diamond Elite membership level.
  • In both cases, when a member is recognized as a CENIT 1 million (C*) or as a CENIT 2 million (C**), the miles they have accumulated in their LifeMiles account on the day they are granted the CENIT Award, and that are accumulated afterwards will not expire, even when they have no activity of accumulation or redemption in their account, as long as their CENIT Award is in force.

c. Other considerations

  • The information used to determine if a member qualifies for a CENIT Award can be found in the Your Information and Preferences section in www.LifeMiles.com This information is updated every thirty days and therefore when consulting it may not be up to date. The Airlines reserve the right to establish the dates and periodicity upon which they will review the compliance with the requirements by the members to receive the CENIT award.
  • Additionally, this information may be consulted through the Call Center that provides assistance to the members of the LifeMiles program.
  • The information to determine whether a member complies with the conditions to receive a CENIT award, including the CENIT Qualifying Miles calculation, is found in the database of the LifeMiles program and the information that is obtained from the historical databases of the Previous PVFs. If one member wants to clarify any doubts with respect to this information, he may communicate with the Call Center or visit an Attention Center of the Airlines to clarify it and follow the procedure that it is indicated.
  • The member that is qualified as eligible to receive the CENIT award, will receive a communication in which they will be informed of this award and will receive their membership card with the corresponding acknowledgment level, which will be sent to the corresponding address registered in their LifeMiles program profile.
  • The membership card of a member that receives the CENIT award will have a differential visual identification (a C* or a C**), and will be of the members level of membership corresponding to the member, as explained in section b. above. Notwithstanding that their card will have an expiration date with the same cut-off date as the remainder of the members of this membership level, will be renewed each year with the level that pertains to them in accordance with the award and/or rules of the benefits of the LifeMiles program, as applicable, as long as their CENIT award remains in force and/or the CENIT award program.
  • The CENIT award is personal to the member that receives it and is non transferrable for any reason neither between persons nor due to death and expires with the death of the member.
  • The Airlines reserve the right to, at their entire discretion and with no obligation of compensation to the member, (A) modify at any time the conditions that a member must comply with to be able to receive and maintain the CENIT award, including the CENIT 1 million (C*) and CENIT 2 million (C**) categories, and/or the benefits that pertain to the members with the CENIT award with any of the two referred categories. These modifications or changes will be communicated to (A) the members which have received the CENIT award which may be affected by these modifications or cancellations at the last address they have registered in the LifeMiles program, and (B) through a modification to these Terms and Conditions.
  • No benefit nor any other term of the CENIT award affects in any way the rights of the Airlines to modify the conditions and corresponding benefits to the membership LifeMiles Gold Élite or LifeMiles Diamond Élite levels, nor any other rights of the Airlines and LifeMiles under these Terms and Conditions.
  • The Airlines reserve the right of not giving or of revoking the CENIT award to any member at any time, at the entire discretion of the Airlines and with no obligation to compensate to the member, including without limitation, in cases of fraud, breach and/or violation of the terms and conditions of the LifeMiles program, irregular conduct, falseness or employed bad faith by the member for the utilization or attainment of the benefits of the LifeMiles program or CENIT award or harmful acts to the Airlines and/or its affiliates or subsidiaries, as well as any other act of verbal and/or physical abuse to any of the employees, directors and/or agents of such entities, in any case at the Airlines opinion, as well as in all other cases that pursuant to these Terms and Conditions allow the suspension or cancellation of the participation or freezing of the accounts of a members in the LifeMiles program.
  • The non delivery or revocation of the CENIT award may be accompanied with the cancellation of the member´s account within the LifeMiles program, as well as the cancellation of any future participation of this member within the LifeMiles program.

Multiply your Miles

  • This option applies only to members who earn miles in Avianca flights, have made transactions with their Avianca LifeMiles credit or debit card and/or have earned miles with commercial partners Shopping with LifeMiles and Travel Partners within twelve previous calendar months of the month in which the transaction takes place.
  • Base miles, fare family bonus and elite bonus are eligible miles to multiply from Avianca flights, applies in fares with miles accrual. Multiply your Miles is available on the flights operated by Avianca. If there is an airline combination with other Airlines, only miles earn in Avianca flights are eligible to multiply. The eligible miles to multiply depend on the miles earned from Avianca flights.
  • The eligible miles to multiply from debit or credit cards are those reported by the issuing bank for the available month to multiply. These miles might not correspond to the consumptions made during each month if the bank does not report them; these pending miles will appear in the following month. If the issuing bank does not report any transaction from the card holder, it will not be possible to multiply any miles.
  • The eligible miles to multiply from commercial partners Shopping with LifeMiles and Travel Partners are those reported by such commercial partners during the month available to multiply. These miles might not correspond to the transactions made during each month if the commercial partner has not reported them; these pending miles will appear in the following month after the commercial partners report the transactions.
  • Minimum monthly LifeMiles to multiply for miles earned in Avianca flights and with an Avianca LifeMiles credit or debit card is LM 100 and for miles earned with commercial partners Shopping with LifeMiles and Travel Partners is LM 50.
  • Price per double mile: USD 1.85 cents and Price per triple mile: USD 1.71 cents plus taxes for each country. For residents in Colombia: The values must be calculated at the TRM rate of the date of transaction. For residents in Peru: the final price in Nuevos Soles will be determined by the Exchange rate of the day of transaction. For the rest of countries, the values must be calculated at the exchange rate of the date of transaction. Only form of payment at LifeMiles.com: credit card or international debit card.
  • Additional 15% Discount applies exclusively to LifeMiles members that at the time of the Multiply your Miles transaction pay with their cobranded Avianca LifeMiles credit cards, therefore the are no retroactive claim allowed. For LifeMiles members with a cobranded Avianca LifeMiles credit card issued by Banco Davivienda of Colombia, for technical reasons, the discount only applies to those card holders with cards starting with digits 424529 or 447198. If you have a cobranded Avianca LifeMiles credit card issued by Banco Davivienda of Colombia that starts with digits other than 424529 o 447198, before making any transaction, call the bank to ask a card replacement and be able to benefit from the discount. Discount applies to members who pay with Avianca LifeMiles Co-branded card and applies at the moment of the transaction, no retroactive claims are allowed. For members with DAVIVIENDA Colombia cards apply cards starting with 424529 o 447198, if you don’t have it, call the bank to request the change of your card.
  • Miles offered on Multiply your Miles option depends on the miles accrued at the member’s account.
  • Only one multiply your LifeMiles transaction per month is allowed.
  • You can multiply the miles from twelve previous calendar months of the month in which the transaction takes place. These miles correspond to earned miles during each month. If the member has pending miles to earn for flights and request them, these miles will appear in the following month.
  • If the member does not have miles earned from debit or credit cards consumptions, flights with Avianca or commercial partners Shopping with LifeMiles and Travel Partners Multiply your Miles it is not possible.
  • Multiply your Miles is available per member.
  • Miles will be credited to the member account automatically after the transaction is completed
  • Multiplied miles will not be taken into maximum miles to purchase per member each calendar year.
  • The miles multiplied do not apply to achieve or maintain Elite status.
  • This transaction cannot be reversed. Payment for the miles multiplied is not refundable.
  • The miles are not endorsable.
  • Taxes can vary by country, which will be shown in the summary at time of purchase.
  • When credited, the miles purchased can be used to redeem according to the Terms and Conditions of the LifeMiles Program, as well as the specifics of each product or services available for redemption.
  • LifeMiles Terms and Conditions apply.
  • LifeMiles is a LifeMiles B.V registered brand

Final Provisions

LifeMiles LTD may transfer the ownership of the Program and contract its administration (including without limitations handling its operation, publicity, among others) to other entity without sending notice to the members of the program. In this case, such entity shall have the same rights and duties of LifeMiles LTD under these Terms and Conditions, or according to the respective documentation.

In the relationship of LifeMiles LTD and the Airlines with their members, LifeMiles LTD and/or the Airlines reserve the right to interpret the present Terms and Conditions in case of doubt or lack of clarity.

The inaction of the Airlines and/or of LifeMiles must not be considered a waive to any default, present or future by any member of the program. If any provision under these terms and conditions is considered void, null or illegal for any reason by a relevant authority, such provision must be adjusted just enough to correct such nullity or illegality and shall not affect the other provisions hereof.

  • The present Terms and Conditions are in effect from March 22th, 2013.
  • The Additional Terms and Conditions for Specific Transactions section where included in our Terms and Conditions on the 6th of December 2013, and subsection c. Redemption of Award Tickets in Airlines members of Star Alliance (including flights combined with routes of AVIANCA) was updated on the 26th of January 2016 and modified on the 16th of August 2017.
  • The CENIT Award section was included in our Terms and Conditions on the 8th of April, 2014
  • The Accrual and redemption of Miles through the use of the Membership Card section was included in our Terms and Conditions on the 23rd of May, 2014 and modified on the 7th of November, 2014
  • The Accrual and redemption of Miles through the use of the Membership Card section was included in our Terms and Conditions on the 23rd of May, 2014 and modified on the 09th of December, 2014 and on the 29th of May 2015.
  • The LifeMiles Catalog in Colombia section was included in our Terms and Conditions on the 8th of January, 2015
  • The introductory section and the final provisions of these Terms and Conditions have been modified to make clear the responsibilities of the Airlines and LifeMiles LTD with regards to the property and operation of the Program on October 24, 2016.
